A new start up

The client a major retailer had decided to open a new distribution site based in the South East. Working with the 24.7 project start up team the client highlighted that a major concern would be staff turnover closely followed by labour cost per case. The 24.7 start up team proposed a productivity based pay and charge scale which was linked to a retention scheme. If the targets of productivity and retention were met then the colleague, the client and 24.7 all benefited. The 24.7 IT department then amended our bespoke operational software to suit the needs of the on site management team and the client. We now operate with a headcount of c150 colleagues per week, very low unit costs and a very satisfied client.

A ‘true’ partnership

The client a major retailer, has a large site based in the North. 24.7 have a relationship spanning over 5 years with this client, on this site. We are now established as a true partner on site and provide over 200 staff in all areas of the administration and operation. We add value through recruiting the majority of people on a ‘temp to perm’ agreement and the on site management team fully contribute to the site’s planning / recruitment meetings. Our on site management team have adopted the clients vision and our colleagues fully embrace the site’s behaviours and culture.

A ‘perfect’ colleague transfer

The client is a 3rd party logistics provider operating a distribution site based in the south on behalf of a major retailer. The client initially decided against ‘all the eggs in one basket’ approach and had chosen to appoint 2 labour providers, one of which was 24.7. The other labour provider decided to take the route of filling their orders by using EU colleagues, with lower pay and charge rates than 24.7. It became evident that despite having a higher charge rate, 24.7 were quickly being established as the better labour provider on site, consistently hitting all KPI’s and delivering a lower cost per unit than the competitor. It was clear that morale was low with the other provider’s colleagues partly due to the fact that the housing that was provided for the EU colleagues was poor, transportation to site was costly and management behaviour lacked discipline. 24.7 were asked to take sole supply for the site and our Project team, supported by head office, quickly resolved the issues, finding new improved accommodation nearer to the site with a reduction in the overall charges to the colleagues. The colleagues were also encouraged to find their own accommodation and provided with the funds to do so. This also resolved the transportation issue as either cycles or public transport could be used. We retrained all the colleagues that joined us and carried out 1-2-1 interviews which were followed by weekly ‘surgeries’ until the new colleagues were comfortable working for 24.7. The colleagues received an increase in pay whilst the sites performance improved and cost per unit reduced. The transfer was a resounding success and we now supply over 120 colleagues on a daily basis and operate on a sole supply basis.
